Based on the experience of 4 years of videoconferencing within the Worldwide Universities´ Network on China Studies, the presentation will examine some of the major issues involved in using videoconferencing for research communication. The issues of audience, motivation, integration, creation of research communities will be discussed in terms of benefits and problems. The use of material for teaching will be addressed.
