Working with ROR as a Crossref member: what you need to know

In July 2021, Crossref started to support the collection of ROR IDs in the metadata we collect, to help with the reliable identification and downstream use of affiliation data connected to research outputs. This means that content registered with Crossref can be associated with ROR IDs to enable better tracking and discovery of research and other publication outputs by institution.

ROR (Research Organization Registry, ror.org) is a community-led registry of open identifiers for research organizations. ROR IDs are designed to be used in open scholarly infrastructure to connect researchers and research outputs to affiliations.

Implementation in the Crossref schema to accept ROR IDs and disseminate them via our APIs is key so that this affiliation data can be reused by tools, services, and anyone interested in this information. For example; institutions and funders need to monitor and measure their research output by the articles their researchers have published. Academic librarians need to easily find all of the publications associated with their campus. Journals need to know where authors are affiliated so they can determine eligibility for institutionally sponsored publishing agreements.

Please join Crossref and ROR for this webinar which will cover:
- A short introduction to ROR
- ROR integrations at Hindawi
- How ROR is being supported at Crossref
- How you can register ROR IDs in your metadata
- What's next

This informal 30-minute presentation will be followed by plenty of time for questions.

The webinar is specifically geared toward those interested in learning about incorporating ROR into their metadata workflows.
